Snow Piles
This is a great hobby; perhaps someday our study of Snow Piles in the
Northeastern United States will provide valuable info on global warming --
well.... maybe not! We can say that 2005 was a banner year,
Domenic and I started the Pile when he was here for Christmas of 04 (you can see it is
up to our knees), I continued to grow that same pile until he visited for
Spring Break at the end of March.
I'm not sure what the neighbors thought. I actually put a tarp over the
snow to help keep it cool on warm days or bright sunlight. 2005 was pretty
different, got the start of a pile in early January, but it just didn't snow
that much (the winter without snow, not one school day!), and we lost it
entirely as it shrank. As always, click for a larger
image.

You have to admit, the pile we had in 2005
was truly a mountain. Even grandma enjoyed adding a few shovel loads!
As you can see it sprouted two red eye-stalks, became
Domenic's pet, and was later evaporated by the EPA. |
