| Here is what we started with. A downstairs half-bath. |
It had a side-by-side washer/dryer that took up a lot of room.
We figured we would get stackable front-loaders and put in a shower
stall. |
The demolition is underway. It looked pretty scary at this
point, there was dust & dirt everywhere. |
| A lot of work needed to be done. |
One of our brave carpenters at work! |
Here is a child laborer using his little finger to do all the PVC
installation. Any leaks -- he will be blamed!!! |
| A panoramic view. |
Wow, do things look better with walls. |
We finally got in the washer and dryer. |

| At the end of the summer of 2007, we were pretty happy. At
least a corner of the bathroom looked done -- still no shower. |
Yuck, need to turn this into a shower stall. None of that
prefab stuff for us! |
Our mortar-man at work. We think he didn't know what he was
doing, but learning on the job! |
| Pouring the concrete for the floor was a big challenge. Layer of
concrete, rubber membrane, another layer of concrete -- AND, make sure
it all slopes toward the drain! |
Here are the rough walls. Hardiboard! |
Mortar on the floor and ceramic tile in a honeycomb pattern on top
-- keep that slope toward the drain! |
| It looks a harmless sealing fan. You'd never know it took
hours and hours to run the venting above the ceiling! |
Simple beauty. |
Starting to look like a shower, got the tile in, but no grout. |
| Grouting is done! |
The finished product! |
