How about just making wine in a gallon on top of the kitchen table.  I didn't think of this one, it's an old Mennonite recipe and it really worked!

Okay, the recipe called for what you see right there.  A gallon partially full of grapes (no stems), and then add 5 pounds of sugar! Well, after 2 pounds of sugar I slowed down.  I couldn't believe it!  I think I actually added about another pound later, but that was it. Then you add water and some bread yeast -- pretty fancy!
Okay, I sort of improvised here.  The water was cold and after I put the yeast in I realized it might not 'start'. So I filled the sink with hot water and gave it a nice bath until fermentation started. Best air lock in the world!  Just put a plastic bag held by a rubber band -- not too tight or it might pop!
Let me tell you, this stuff was a real hit. Sweet and very fruity and a pretty good 'kick'.
It just sat on the kitchen table and gradually got color.  If fermentation seemed to slow down, I would just give it another warm water bath till it started up again.  Real science! Ahhh!  After about 2-3 weeks (I don't remember), the finished product siphoned into two bottles.
